Hanging 3-D Paper Sculpture

This is one of my favorite art projects to start with the fourth grade . Students learn about organic shapes, patterns and how to manipulate a piece of paper into a 3-D sculpture. This year the students had the choice to built their sculpture on a base piece of paper or staple the sculpture to itself to create a hanging sculpture. Many students chose to create a hanging sculpture. They came out very nicely. One class experimented with warm and cool watercolors and used crayons and paint to create their hanging sculptures.

Outerspace Scratch Art

This year I changed the scratch art project theme. Instead of using undersea life as the theme, students could choose from outerspace, jungle/rainforest or undersea. This year when we painted our home-made scratch art paper, the paint wouldn't let us scratch it off, so many students chose to use pre-made paper.
